New at The Gelato Bar!
We just got back from a week of drinking and eating our way through Italy! Drinking espresso and eating gelato that is. Joel even got behind the counter at Aldo's bar and tried his hand on their machines. As nice as it was to be away from the shop, each time we went to an Italian cafe we wanted to just spend a few minutes pulling a shot, adjusting a grinder, and reworking a gelato case! We spent the second week in New York, doing the same thing we had just done it Italy, but in the muggy rain! We did take an espresso tasting in the Intelligentsia lab and were pleased after the class "vote" on which espresso was the first choice, that it is the one we are currently using! At one point they brewed the same espresso two ways. Once at a temperature of 197 degrees and the second time at 202. Unbelievable what a difference 5 degrees can make in the quality of the crema and overall taste.
